The music ministry of First Christian Church enriches our worship by providing passionate music of praise and devotion. Anyone can participate and all musical skill-levels are welcome. The Sanctuary Choir has a long history of distinguished service to the church through leading the singing each Sunday in traditional worship and presenting special music at festival services. Membership is open to all high school students and adults who love to sing. This group has a collective sense of community-- musically and spiritually-- that enables them to share God's love with one another and with our congregation. Rehearsals are held September through May on Wednesday evenings from 7:30-9:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
For adult women, the Treble Choir sings often during worship, presenting challenging music in diverse styles. New members are welcome. Rehearsals are Mondays at 6:00 -7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
Handbells have been an active part of the music ministry of First Christian Church for over twenty years, using a complete set of sixty-one bells and handchimes. Rehearsals are held September through May on Wednesdays at 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
Handbell Quartet/Handbell Ringers
This small handbell ensemble presents a wide range of challenging music written for English handbells, as well as, the centuries-old practice of change ringing on our set of Dutch Handbells. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays, at 5:45 -6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
This inspirational choir was formed a few years ago and performs their music in American Sign Language. New members are welcome. Rehearsals are weekly September through May.
Torch Praise Team
This is a group with vocalists, keyboards, guitars and drums, leading the congregation in contemporary Christian praise music. Rehearsals are Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Contact Marcia Foster for more information.
First Christian Brass
The First Church Brass ensemble plays for festive services throughout the year with emphasis placed on music for brass, organ, and timpani. Experienced brass players are encouraged to take part. Contact Mark Miller for more information. Rehearsals will be announced.
Besides our numerous ensembles, individual vocalists and instrumentalists help lead worship as well.
Special programs and concerts may be held throughout the year featuring guest musical ensembles and soloists. The excellent acoustics of our Sanctuary and Chapel offer a beautiful setting for ensembles such as Musica Antiqua Lincoln, Dulces Voces, Lincoln Organ Showcase, and various professional and college choirs and ensembles on tour.
