The season is approximately 8 weeks long, followed by a double elimination tournament. A special feature of the volleyball program is the exciting Parent/Sponsor vs. Youth Challenge that takes place in January or February.
Additional Opportunities for Youth at FCC
In addition to Wednesday evening activities, youth have a variety of opportunities for service, growth, and fellowship through participation in fall and spring regional retreats, summer camping at Kamp Kaleo in Burwell, Nebraska, the International Affairs Seminar (for juniors and seniors in high school and college freshmen), mission trips, Vacation Bible School, the CROP Walk, Souper Bowl Sunday, 30 Hour Famine, lock-ins, Youth Sunday, planned “Zone” events with other Disciples of Christ and United Church of Christ youth in Lincoln, and fundraisers such as pancake and spaghetti luncheons. Youth may also serve as greeters, worship leaders, ushers, functional department members, and members of the diaconate.
During the summer, a variety of activities take place. You may call the church office (475-4289) in late May to talk with Jessica Robbins, Director of Children, Youth, and Young Adults Ministries about the summer schedule.
Those who are musically inclined are encouraged to share their talents vocally and/or instrumentally in worship, choir, and FCC’s brass quartet. You may talk with Mark Miller, Director of Music Ministries. Mark can be reached by leaving a message at the church office - 475-4289.
